So my best friend somehow managed to be holding both his lighter and a can of WD-40 when we were working on a project...

And a spider walked into his path.

Kinja'd!!!

And it was no more.

Sean smote it with the power of a thousand angry suns.

The fire didn't kill it. Not after 3 sprays. Excess WD-40 drown'd it. And then it started burning. Poetic.

Wish my camera was in my hands...and not 20 feet away.

It happened but I have no pictures. That is all.

Tell me of your best kill.

There's been a small spider that makes webs in the rear window ever since I bought my car. He's survived a complete restoration and daily driving: paint, spray glue, interior work. Somehow he's still alive and I don't have it in my heart to kill him. He's been with me since the begining.

He's been in the car for years now. Every time I check, he's back there still alive.

I have to tell people not to kill it when they ride with me.

You have to use starter fluid, especially the kind with the thickeners or whatever it is, that way it sticks and burns like nothing outside a theater of war. It's the only way to be sure.

Nopenopenope.

I mean, it's cool he's your pet.

But I'm not riding back there with it. I'll drive.

I'm not to terribly fond of spiders, but something the size of a pencil tip is completely harmless to you.

If he's been in there for so long that means he's survived by eating the other bugs, which I guess is good.

Make sure you get a picture so when he eventually bites the dust, you can put a small little sticker inside your window of him.

He's one of the many interesting things about my car. His survival is about as perplexing as me being able to actually restore the damn thing in the first place.

We used to use a blowtorch and that long distance wasp spray on the paper wasp nests at the shop. It seems like a good idea until you realize there's a huge, burning wasp nest on a 20 ft ceiling and no ladder in sight.

My mapp torch makes short work of the local spider population. Did you know that spider legs can bend backwards when they get hot enough?

Sorry for the bad video quality (horiz mode?) and the cackling jackasses in the background, but these are some black widows that we found and glued to the hood of a race car after killing them. With fire.

Airsoft rifle. I had just finished zeroing the scope earlier in the day, and I noticed a big fat spider on the wall just opposite the hallway off my downstairs basement. So I picked up the rifle, loaded up a nice .43g bb, and went down the hall the other aim. Shoulder, aim, fire, and the spider was simply no more. Very satisfying. I also executed one point-blank with an airsoft pistol, but that didn't feel like giving it a sporting chance.

I had that with a little bright green grasshopper, he crawled inside my side mirror and would come out and ride on it until it would get to windy then he would go back inside, lasted for a few days, I actually kinda missed him when he wasn't there one morning.
